Ballat Smithy Cottage is a high quality semi-detached cottage created from the original workshops of the Ballat Smithy, which was built about 1830 for the Buchanan estates of the Duke of Montrose.

The cottage is located a few miles from Loch Lomond, and faces south with views of the Campsie Fells and the surrounding fields and woods. It is ideal for exploring much of central Scotland: Stirling and Glasgow are a half hour drive away, Edinburgh and Perth one hour, and much of Argyll, Perthshire, Ayrshire and South East Scotland is easily accessible. For those who do not wish to venture too far there are many wonderful scenic drives close to the cottage.


There are lovely walks and several excellent cycle routes; all popular activities such as fishing, riding, water sports and golf are easily arranged, and there are several leisure centres nearby for swimming, etc. Surrounding towns and villages offer a wide variety of places to dine and shop and there are many attractions and activities to suit all ages.
